Warm Up: Create and Share Your Story (10 min)
Spend the beginning of class creating a Google Doc for your story. It needs to be titled in the following format, "name.title.section #". If you don't have a title yet you can name it "untitled". Once you do that share it with Mr. Korchnak and use the extra time to write a little.
Class Reading: Mass Hysteria (10 min)
When Orson Well's rewrote War of the Worlds and turned it into a radio broadcast he created mass hysteria in the public. The broadcast was written to appear to be a real news story and people really believed that aliens were attacking Earth. Read the article below to learn more about how that happened.

Original War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast (10 min)
Here's the original recording from the War of the Worlds broadcast. Let's listen as a class to see how they tricked people into thinking aliens were really attacking.
As a class lets brainstorm some ways to generate suspense in our stories.
Video Clip: LOST (10 min)
As a class let's watch a scene from the show LOST to see how the writers used science and technology to build suspense and drama. If you've never seen LOST before it's a show about a group of airplane crash survivors who landed on a tropical island full of mysteries and special properties. If you've never seen the show it's pretty awesome.
Use the remaining time in class to write your story. Don't forget to integrate your 25 vocabulary terms.
Tonight's homework is about the vocabulary terms you are going to use in your story. Fill out the form below about your story.
