As some of you may know Mr. Korchnak and Mr. Bell are going on a month long expedition to retrace the steps of the Lewis and Clark journey. Before and during the trip we want you to be active with the experience. Below you'll find two links. One to the expedition website where we'll be keeping a blog about the trip and a survey for a series of interviews we are going to conduct on the expedition. Be sure to check both of them out.
Lab: Plate Boundaries (30 min)
Last class we talked about plate boundaries and the conditions that arrise at them. Most of the time you'll see an increase in seismic and volcanic activity. Using that knowledge we're going to use real life data to plot that activity on a map. You'll also need to complete the legend to show how you emphasize the size of the earthquake (using a larger dot) and the type of volcano (a different shape or letter). As you plot more data hopefully you'll begin to see a pattern.
- Blank Map (Note: This map is spread out over two pieces of paper. You'll need to tape it together)
- Earthquake and Volcano Data (Make sure to check the tabs for the volcano data)
Work on your lab. It will be due during the second long period next week. We'll be using it for a class activity.
